From September 20th to 23rd, Luz Gomez, professorof National Agricultural University of La Moulin, Peru, and Sergio Santos, researcher of Solana University of Technology in Mexico, visited our university for academic exchanges.
During the visit, Prof. Luz Gomez gave an academic report entitled Quinoa (ChenopodiumquinoaWilld) Alternative Crop for Food Nutrition Improvement and for Sustainable Cultivation in Marginal Environments, and introduced the development history and research status of buckwheat and other crops in Latin America. Researcher Sergio Santos gave an academic report on The Microbial Resource as a Sustainable Alternative to Current and Future Food Security Challenges, presenting his latest research on the use of agricultural microbes. The teachers and students from the College of Agronomy and Resource Environment, the College of Food Science and Bioengineering, and the researchers from the Zhang Jiakou Academy of Agricultural Sciences participated in the academic reports, and conducted extensive exchanges on some hot issues. The two Latin Americanexperts also inspected the experimental practice base of our university and made guiding suggestions for the field management of crops such as buckwheat.
In recent years, the state has vigorously promoted the construction of the “One Belt ,One Road”, and our university has also carried out extensive agricultural science and technology exchanges with countries along the “One Belt ,One Road”. With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture 948 project, our university has established stable agricultural science and technology cooperation with Latin American countries such as Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Argentina. The visits of two experts from Latin America will further deepen the agricultural science and technology cooperation between our university and Latin American countries, and help to introduce and utilize the excellent agricultural germplasm resources in Latin America and give full play to the geographical advantages of our university in regional agricultural development.
