In order to enhance the understanding of foreign students in China, let foreign youth listen to China, get closer to China and know China, on July 3, the International Office together with College of Water Conservancy and Engineering, organized Chinese and foreign college students to go to Chenguantun Town, Jinghai District to carry out summer social practice.

The practice group first visited the Canal Museum in Chenguantun Town, which is the first township level canal culture museum in China. Chinese and foreign university students witnessed the situation when the Chenguantun section of the Grand Canal was excavated. Students from the School of Water Conservancy and Engineering combined their professional knowledge to explain the story of canal culture to international students. Everyone exchanged ideas and personally experienced the glorious history brought by water culture to this millennium old town.

Subsequently, the practice group arrived at Lvguantun Village, Chenguantun Town. At the village art exhibition hall, physical exhibits showcased folk memories and unique cultural elements of Lvguantun. In the "Home of Farming and Reading", a miniature of a wealthy family's residential courtyard of late Qing dynasty farming and reading inheritors is presented. The close combination of "farming" and "reading" has deepened the understanding of traditional Chinese culture among Chinese and foreign students. In the calligraphy writing process, Chinese and foreign students pair up to write calligraphy works, experiencing the breadth and depth of traditional Chinese culture in writing, and expressing their love for China through Chinese characters.

This practical activity has built a bridge of friendship for Chinese and foreign students in our school, cultivated a group of young ambassadors who can communicate with China and enhance friendship, and enabled international students to have a direct understanding of the national conditions, social conditions, and customs of rural China. It has also provided a stage for our school students to tell Chinese stories and Chinese youth stories well, showcasing a trustworthy, lovely, and respectable image of China to the world.
