The College of Food Science and Biotechnology held a themed event for students from China and Thailand to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival

On September 22nd, the College of Food Science and Biotechnology organized students from China and Thailand to celebrate the MidAutumn Festival on the first floor of Tianjiao Canteen, sharingtraditional cultures of the two countries, making mooncakes together,and experiencing the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.Si Yimin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean ofthe College, participated in this event. 

In her speech, Si Yimin warmly welcomed the 14 international studentsfrom the 2021 "ShennongInstitute" of the college to TJAUfor theirstudies and lives, and sent holiday blessings to the students. She saidthat the Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four traditional festivals inChina, which symbolizes the joy of harvest and the hope of reunion.The purpose of this activity is to let students studying abroad feel theatmosphere of the traditional Chinese festival, and to express theiryearning for their relatives and parents. She encouraged students to work with TJAU's teachers and students during their study in China toactively respond to the challenges in academic life during their studyabroad, cherish the time, think about the source and forge ahead,Work hard to learn solid skills. She hopes that her classmates canenrich their time studying abroad, gain a deep understanding of theexcellent traditional Chinese culture, become disseminators of ChineseThai culture and friendship, and promote cultural exchange and mutuallearning. 

Then, Li Jiaqi, a 2020 undergraduate majoring in food science andengineering, introduced the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival. 2021 Thai international student Zhang Jingrou Patteera shared the customs of the traditional Thai festival Water Splashing Festival. In the mooncake production process, Chinese and Thai students integrateand group together, divide tasks in an orderly manner, and jointly experience the production of ice skin mooncakes. Students overcamelanguage barriers and gradually became proficient. Mooncakesprinted with patterns such as "Food Academy emblem", "Thai"reunion "," Happy Mid Autumn Festival ", etc. were demolded. Eachmooncake symbolizes the collision and fusion of culture, andembodies the friendship between China and Thailand. 

 

During the activity, the overseas students said that it was my first time to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in China, which made me feel thecharm of Chinese traditional culture. I am very happy to participate inthis activity and integrate into the family of TJAU. During the activity,we knew the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and we mademooncakes with our classmates and teachers. We felt very happy.
